Pough transferred from Western Kentucky University, but he originally attended the nationally recognized James Logan High School. It was at James Logan that Pough won the NFL National Championship in Duo Interpretation. In his first year at Wiley, he added a collegiate National Championship to his accolades, having won Poetry at Christian Nationals. In his second year, Pough was among the ensemble that won a National Championship in Reader’s Theater and Duo Interpretation at the Pi Kappa Delta National Comprehensive Tournament. Pough has been the team captain for the last two years.
Ashford is a former competitor from Union City, California where he competed at the nationally recognized James Logan High School. He has won more awards than can be counted at the high school and collegiate levels. An extremely talented interpreter, Ashford won seven National Championship trophies from two tournaments in his freshman year. Ashford is also an accomplished poet having won a world championship title and appeared on HBO’s Brave New Voices, and is the founder of Lyrical Therapy University. Ashford, to date, has won 15 national collegiate titles.
Smith is from the inner city of St. Louis, MO, where he made an oath not to become a negative statistic. During his senior year of high school he was elected the senior class president and Vice President of Future Business Leaders of America. Smith competed in policy debate since 2009 in the Urban Debate League, where he was the top speaker and debater of the year in 2013. In the 2012-13 competition year, he earned the sixth place speaker in the country. Cameron and his partner are the first St. Louis UDL team to compete at the NFL National Championship, where they qualified without losing a single ballot. As a member of the Great Debaters, Cameron won a National Championship at JV Nationals in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and was a finalist at the Pi Kappa Delta National Comprehensive Tournament in JV Lincoln- Douglas Debate, and advanced to elimination rounds at the National Forensics Association National Championship.
Cardenas attended James Logan High School in Union City, California, and is a sophomore majoring in Accounting. Jesus has competed in Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Oratorical Interpretation, Extemp, Oratory, Impromptu, Public Forum, and Parliamentary Debate. Cardenas has competed in both Dramatic Interpretation and Public Forum at the California State tournament where he took eighth in Dramatic Interpretation. As a member of the Wiley College team, Cardenas contributed significantly to the historic Pi Kappa Delta National Championship, winning semi-final honors in both Extemporaneous Speaking and Impromptu, the largest event at the tournament.
