The end of the year is a time to reflect on the entirety of the competitive season, in an effort to steer the team to greatness in the following year. This year is almost indescribable to anyone outside of the speech and debate world. The accomplishments of this team have been so incredible that to describe it to someone else, the feelings cannot be translated. In some languages, there are feelings that are so big that they just cannot be described in the language that we know. This is exactly the case for our competition season.
The Great Debaters just completed its seventh year since its reformation in 2008. This team won a record number of awards throughout the year. This team won championships. This team has placed itself among the elite teams across the country. Yet, putting those things on paper pales in comparison to the reality of what was accomplished. To sum it up in a few sentences almost cheapens the experience. The feeling on this team at the end of this year and going into next year is electric. This team in on the edge of creating a dynasty and everyone knows it.
